Chelsea have re-signed Serbia international midfielder Nemanja Matic for a reported fee of £21m from Portuguese outfit Benfica.
Chelsea have re-signed Serbia international midfielder Nemanja Matic for a reported fee of £21m from Portuguese outfit Benfica.
The 25-year-old returns to Stamford Bridge after agreeing a five-and-a-half year contract with the Blues, having departed for Portugal three years ago.
Matic was part of the deal that saw David Luiz move to Stamford Bridge, and blossomed as a player last season as Benfica prgressed all the way to the Europa League Final, where they lost 2-1 to Chelsea at the Amsterdam Arena.
Commenting on his return to the London giants, Matic told the club's offial website: "I am very happy for this opportunity to be back at this club.
"I feel very good because of that and just want to say I will give my best to help the team and make the Chelsea fans happy."
Blues boss Jose Mourinho added: "I am very pleased that Nemanja is returning to Chelsea.
"He has grown as a player in Portugal and has become a fantastic all-round midfielder. I am sure he will become a very important member of the squad and help us to achieve our ambitions."
