When NEPA/PHCN was privatized, Nigerians thought at last we are going to heave a sigh  of relief but little did Nigerians know that  we are biting more than we can chew.

Coming home, because i cant speak for other states but for Edo State I can speak. Since the date when the discos arrived, power became a scarce commodity and since then most people in Edo State never knew what it is to have power.

In my area in Benin City (Siluko Road to be precised) we experience 1 hour power a day, some days 30 minutes, other days 3hr 30min in 2 days. I run generator for a minimum of 14-16 hours daily We have embarked on a protest mission twice, the BEDC management will tell us they are going to be scheduling 3 hour on and off for us, yet we agreed but it never came.

Recently, there have been pockets of protest in most parts of the states, in Auchi, people protested and because of their protest the whole of that local government and some parts of owan east local government have been kept in perpetual darkness all because they protested the arbitrary and unreasonable  hike in bills that is been given in the last 2 months, where who was paying an average of N4,000.00 monthly is now paying N15,000.00 while other pay between N11,000.00 - N24,000.00 for what was ordinarily N3,000.00 -  N5,000.00. even in a situation where power is not even available for 3 hours daily.

Metronigeriana gathered from a reliable source that the Owner/Managing Director Mrs. Funke Osibodu ordered the IT Unit in charge of  billing to disregard meter readings and issue arbitrary bills  to people in Edo State irrespective of their last meter reading. This is totally unacceptable and condemnable.

Information reaching us is that Mrs. Funke Osibodu is not happy with the removal of fixed charges and that she is fine-tuning another means to make power consumers pay accumulatable charges in no distance time from now. That since the fixed charges is removed there should something else that will be accumulating like fixed charge so as to make consumer always pay something irrespective of whether they use light or not.

It was also gathered that she is so happy when her name is being mentioned everywhere as regard her attitude and act of wickedness that she said in some of their meetings with her management staff that "people are calling Funke Osibodu, Funke Osibodu, I am now as popular as the First Lady" can you imaging that.

I want anyone who cares to hear and know that the people of Edo State will resist her antics  and any further ploy to make life unbearable for us.
