More facts emerged on Saturday about the attack on the official vehicle of the President of the Senate, David Mark, around the 0rlu area of Imo State. The incident took place on Friday.
The Special Adviser  (Media) to the Senate President, Mr. Kola Ologbodiyan, toldSunday PUNCH, on Saturday that a team of Mark’s aides, who were going ahead of their principal, ran into a robbery scene.
He explained that as members of the team (who were mostly security officials), probably tried to disperse the robbers, the gunmen shot several times at the side of the vehicle where Mark usually sat.
According to him, neither Mark nor the Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Paul Mumeh, was in the convoy at the time of the incident.
He said, “The Senate President was not in the vehicle at the time of the incident. He flew to the event. We are grateful to God that nobody was injured and nobody died.”
The Senate President was on his way to the burial ceremony of late businessman, Sir John Anyaechie, in Nkwerre Community in Imo State.
When contacted, the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, who said he was not aware of the incident, said investigation into the incident would be handled by the Imo State Police Command.
“The force headquarters is not aware of such an attack, but if it is true, then the investigation would be handled by the Imo State Police Command,” he said.
When contacted, the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Joy Elemoko, simply told our correspondent that the incident did not happen in Imo State.
Elemoko’s mobile phone was, however, switched off, when our correspondent tried to call her back for further enquiries.
