Actors call for sack of heads of two govt agencies President Jonathan & members of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria @ the State House Abuja — The Actors Guild of Nigeria, yesterday, called for the sack of the Directors General of Nigeria Film Corporation, NFC,  and National Films and Video Censors Board, NFVCB, saying they lacked the passion to perform. President of the Guild, Ibinabo Fiberesima, who  led members of her executive on a solidarity and courtesy visit to President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, said the two regulatory agencies needed more purposeful leadership. “Nollywood is in dire need of purposeful, practical, dynamic and experienced leadership at the helms of affairs of the two regulatory agencies, whose functions border on our industry, that is, NFC and NFVCB,” she said.

Abuja — The Group Managing Director of  Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Mr Andrew Yakubu, yesterday in Abuja said that kerosene was not sold at the official price of N50 per litre because of diversion of the product by some marketers. The other reasons for the high price of kerosene, according to him, include sharp practices by middlemen, usage for road construction and aviation fuel, among others. Yakubu said this at an investigative hearing on the supply, subsidy and distribution of kerosene in the country. The hearing was organised by the House of Representatives on Petroleum (Downstream). Native doctor’s charm kills pastor,  one other accused of witchcraft BAUCHI — An unholy alliance between a family and a native doctor has allegedly claimed the lives of two people in Zwall village of Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State. The family of Adamu Goni and a native doctor (names withheld)  agreed to administer charms on four members of the family, including a pastor, over their alleged involvement in witchcraft. The family, it was learnt, had been worried over calamities befalling its members, so it sought solutions from a native doctor. The startling revelations were made inside the shrine of the native doctor, a development that almost prompted angry youths to lynch him. Trouble started when the native doctor administered his charms on four  members of the family who were suspected to be involved in witchcraft activities. Senate Douses Tension over Defection by Saraki, Goje, Others Senators Bukola Saraki,   Chuks Okocha and Omololu Ogunmade   The Senate has calmed frayed nerves over the defection letter of 11 senators who want to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC). Senators Bukola Saraki, Danjuma Goje, Shaba Lafiagi, Magnus Abe and seven others had in the last one week engaged the Senate leadership in a battle of wits over its delay in reading during plenary, their letter that was addressed to Senate President David Mark announcing their defection to APC.
